Safeguarding

Our Safeguarding Policy can be found here.

Drayton CE Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Staff and volunteers regularly receive training related to safeguarding. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment. These can be viewed in the policies section of our website.

Occasionally we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare and safety. Unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s safety, we will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first.

All staff have a legal responsibility to share any safeguarding concerns with the designated safeguarding lead.

If a member of staff has concerns which relate to the actions or behaviour of another member of staff this must be reported to the headteacher, or the safeguarding governor if the concern relates to the headteacher.  Any allegations will then be passed onto to the local authority designated officer (LADO) who will work with the school to investigate the allegation.

If you have any concerns regarding the safety of a child or the conduct of a member of staff, please report it to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. (DSL)

  • Designated safeguarding Lead: Mrs Alison Read
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Ms Esther Cope, Mrs Angela Lamb
  • Safeguarding Governor (Mrs Rachel Ward)

All the above can be contacted through the main school offices on 01603 867504.

Safeguarding the School Site

For safety reasons, Governors request that:

  • no dogs are brought onto the school site.
  • Wheeled bikes and scooters should not ridden around the playground at any time.
  • Outside play equipment should not be used be our pupils before school. Parent supervision is required during any after school use of the equipment.
  • As we are a ‘smoke free zone’, in line with county policy, parents/carers refrain from smoking on school grounds at all times. This includes e-cigarettes.
